So What Does It Mean When We Say "See Beyond the Numbers"?
The keeping of financial books is often viewed by many business owners as a necessary task that is all-consuming, arduous, and at times, sometimes just plain confusing!
And we get it, running a business is hard work! As a business owner, there are so many different facets, tasks, and requirements that need your full attention to run your company smoothly and efficiently. And keeping up to date, accurate financial books can sometimes be just one more task in amongst many that takes you away from the day to day tasks that you need to do to run your business.
So when it comes to keeping track of your finances and keeping the books, there is so much more valuable information we can gain from those numbers instead of looking at them for their face value. Sure, we can punch numbers into a program like QuickBooks or Xero to keep a running tally of our finances, but those numbers that we enter can give us so much more valuable information if you we look “beyond’ the numbers and see what they are truly telling us about the health, well-being, and vitality of our company.
That’s why at Owl Eye Bookkeeping Solutions, we highly recommend monthly meetings with all of our clients to go over monthly Balance sheets, Profit & Loss reports, and Statement of Cash Flows. Delving into these reports and determining what the numbers are telling us about your business gives you important information to make clear, decisive decisions about your business and the direction you need to take it to ultimately reach your business and financial goals.
